We are Red Shed Luxe, a New Zealand–based studio crafting luxury hand-poured candles and home fragrance. When we say “we”, “us” or “our” in this policy, we mean Red Shed Luxe. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Orders and purchases

When you buy something from us, we collect the information you provide to process and fulfil your order. This typically includes your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and order details (the products you purchased, quantities and prices). We use this information to:

• process your payment and complete your order;
• ship your products and keep you updated on delivery;
• send you order confirmations, receipts and, where relevant, service messages about your purchase;
• comply with our legal and tax obligations; and
• help protect against fraudulent transactions.

We do not store your full card details on our website. Card payments are handled securely by our third-party payment providers.

Account registration

If you create an account, we store the personal information you provide (such as your name, email address, and saved addresses) so that checkout is faster next time and so you can view your order history. You can view, edit or delete this information at any time from your account, except your username.

Contact and enquiry forms

When you contact us through a form on our site (for example an enquiry, workshop booking or contact request), we collect the details you submit — such as your name, email address, phone number, preferred date/time and message — so we can respond to and manage your request.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

We also use cookies to remember the items in your shopping cart, your preferred display currency, and to keep your session active while you browse and check out.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles and pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

We only share your personal information where it is necessary to run our store and fulfil your orders, including with:

• Payment providers – to securely process your payment. Your payment is handled by our payment processor under their own privacy terms.
• Shipping and courier partners – we share your name, delivery address and contact details so your order can be delivered.
• Service providers – such as our website hosting, email and (where used) spam-detection or analytics providers, who process data on our behalf.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

For orders, we retain order and customer information for as long as necessary to provide our services and to meet our legal, accounting, tax and reporting obligations.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Some of our service providers (such as hosting, payment or email providers) may process your data outside New Zealand; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled securely.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including secure (SSL/HTTPS) connections and restricted access to personal data — to help protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
